A repulout Londonon keresztul egeszen esemenytelenul telt. Budapesten nagyon tiszta ido volt, be lehetett latni az egesz varost. Heathrow-n terminalt kellett valtanom, ami a prospektus szerint kb. 75 percnyi maszkalast jelent, ez eleg sokat elarul a repter mereteirol. Az ellatas kifogastalan volt a repulon, az etel kifejezetten izletes, es jok voltak a boraik is. Baltiomre-ban gond nelkul atjutottam az immigration officer-en, es Balazs, a laborban dolgozo magyar srac vart ram kocsival. O is a Marylander appartman-komplexumban lakik (immar ket eve), es segitsegevel azonnal megkaptam a kulcsaimat. A 7. emeleti lakasom szep nagy, vagy 45 negyzetmeter, de teljesen ures. Sajnos, elteroen mas lakasoktol, meg padloszonyeg sincs benne. Elso utunk a Wal-Mart-ba vezetett, ami a helyi Tesco, es igyekeztem bevasarolni minden alapveto cuccot: szonyeg, fuggony, ruhatarto, zsepi, szemetes, stb. Ejfelre vegeztem is a kipakolassal, es egesz pofassa sikerult tennem a hajlekot. (Kepek itt vannak.) Este egy rovid orientacios setara mentem az egyetemet megnezni, es ekkor utott meg, hogy tenyleg itt vagyok, ezuttal nem csak turistakent. Maga a Johns Hopkins University olyan, mint a filmekben az amerikai egyetemek. Egyseges stilusu (Georgan) epuletek marvany diszitessel, rendezett utakkal es pazsittal. A CISST kozpont nyar vegen koltozott be egy teljesen uj epuletbe, ahova vegre osszeraktak a Computer Integrated Surgery-vel foglalkozo kulonbozo laborokat. (Sajat kepeim.)
Mar kulon asztallal es geppel vartak, es mindenki nagyon kedves. A laborban alapvetoen csupa kulfoldi van, vagy legalabbis kulfoldi szarmazasu: sok kinai, indiai es tobb nemet is. A nagy labor tele van robotokkal, pedig sok minden meg mindig dobozokban all. A legjobb a szetszerelt da Vinci robot, amivel biztos fogok tudni meg jatszani. Egy fel even belul fognak venni egy vadi uj da Vinci-S robotot is, nagyon kivancsi vagyok ra! Az egyetem anyagi lehetosegeirol csak annyit, hogy az allamtol csak kutatas-fejlesztesre evi 1.3 milliard dollart kap, ami hozzavetolesegesen majdnem annyi, mint Magyarorszagon a teljes eves K+F raforditas.

After having an incredible uneventful flight, Budapest was very nice from above. I have arrived safe to Baltimore Monday afternoon. Balazs, a Hungarian fellow form the lab picked me up at the airport, and drove to the Marylander, the apartment complex I'm staying at for the first few months. I got my keys immediately, but as the flat was totally empty, we had to go to Wal Mart to buy basic stuff. By midnight, after a short orientation walk around the Campus, I have finished unpacking and the basic decoration. Surely had no sleeping problems.
The first day was spent on doing the administration and getting introduced to the university. The people around the lab are extremely kind and helpful, so are the stuff members. Johns Hopkins University is just the best educational place I have ever seen. It's like in the movies! Fancy Georgian style buildings with deep green lawn in between. The CISST has just moved to a brand new building, that is still under finalization. (My pics on the campus.) I got a place in the lab of Prof. Kazanzides, staying together with the other 3 guys working on the same project. The big lab is full of robots, even though some are still unpacked after the moving. The best is the opened da Vinci robot. I hope I will have some chance to play with it!
