A PhD hallgató legkellemesebb kötelezettségei közé tartozik, hogy eredményeit publikálnia kell nemzteközi fórumokon, konferenciákon. Ennek eleget téve jelentkeztem eredményeimmel a robotika és automatizálás terén igen kiváló IEEE ICRA konferenciára (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers’ International Conference on Robotics and Automation), amely idén Japánban, Kobe-ban kerül megrendezésre. Végül csak az egyik kapcsolódó workshopra fogadták el az anyagomat (ICRA Workshop on Advanced Sensing and Sensor Integration in Medical Robotics), de ez így is jó alkalmat jelent, hogy részt vegyek a világ egyik legszínvonalasabb konferenciáján és a hozzá kapcsolódó szakmai rendezvényeken. A konferencia előtt és után Kyoto és Tokyo néhány híres sebészrobotikai kutatóintézetét látogatjuk meg a Hopkinsról érkező kollégákkal együtt, utána meg még pár napot maradok kicsit megismerkedni a felkelő nap országának kultúrájával. One of the most pleasant duties of PhD students is to present their work at international forums and conferences. I long wanted to attend the IEEE ICRA conference, which is probably the most prestigious annual summit of robot and automation specialist. It is held in Japan, Kobe in 2009, giving a great opportunity to learn about the latest results of the leading Japanese labs in the field. Luckily Tricia got accepted within the frames of the regular conference, while I’m presenting some of my results at the ICRA Workshop on Advanced Sensing and Sensor Integration in Medical Robotics. We plan to visit world known labs of surgical robotics and haptic in Kyoto and Tokyo before and after the conference with other folks form Hopkins, and also plan to emerge a little into the culture of the country of the rising sun.
